DIVERSIFIED CAREER PREPARATION
(HIGH SCHOOL WORK PROGRAM)

MRS. BUCK Mr. MERTINK
(D.C.P INSTRUCTOR) (D.C.P INSTRUCTOR)
D.C.P. is a class at Giddings High School in which the students learn about the value of looking for and finding a good job. The class begins at 12:55 and lasts until
1:45. The students are then let out of school to go to their work stations (jobs) and work for the rest of the day.
Here at Giddings High School we believe this program gives the students a chance to learn more about their job and gets them ready for the real world when they choose a career. Students in the work program get evaluated and are graded from the evaluation sheets. The students also have to go to work at least through 6th and 7th period. When in 5th period part of the class you do regular school work and take test just like a normal class. The students even have to give presentations of their work stations. After the class portion is over then the teacher dismisses you and you will then have to go to your work station. If the rule is not followed than you will be kicked out of the D.C.P. work program or sent to detention also known as SAC.
The diversified career preparation class counts as 3 credits. It counts for 5th, 6th, and 7th period credits. If you fail or get fired from your job you loose these 3 credits which will affect your credit count badly.
