ABOUT ENGLISH DEPARTMENT

           The English Department is in charge of teaching reading, writing, literature and preparations for the English TAKS test. All students must pass four years of English in order to graduate. The teachers are doing their best to educate these students.

MISS SANDERS

            Miss Sanders is an English I, Pre-AP English I teacher. She teaches freshmen and before February 20 she is preparing student for the ELA TAKS test (English Language Arts TAKS test). She said, “I have a very smart freshman class so I think they are going to do super” on the TAKS test. She enjoys reading, writing poetry, cooking Italian food, walking, shopping on eBay, watching movies especially romantic ones, spending time with family and friends, and going to church. She sponsors the Black History Club. For a fundraiser they sell food at basketball games and the money will go to the trips to colleges. They are going to have a Black History Assembly on Tuesday February 27. Her inspiration to be a teacher came from her grandmother. She always used to say, “You will be a good teacher.”

 

COACH REBOVICH

            Coach Rebovich is an English I, English II, GAP, and Athletics teacher. He teaches freshmen, sophomores and before February 20 he is preparing student for the ELA TAKS test (English Language Arts TAKS test). He said the students are going to do great on their TAKS test. His after school activities are coaching volleyball and softball. His hobbies are collecting guns and designing sports training equipment. His inspiration for being a teacher came from a caring teacher that he knew.

 

MRS. SYLER

            Mrs. Syler is an English II, Pre-AP English II teacher. She teaches sophomores and before February 20 she is preparing student for the ELA TAKS test (English Language Arts TAKS test). She said the sophomores are going to do very good on their ELA TAKS test. Her hobby is gardening. Her inspiration to be a teacher came from her high school journalism teacher.

 

MRS. ESSMAN

            Mrs. Essman is an English III, Pre-AP English II teacher. She teaches juniors and before February 20 she is preparing student for the ELA TAKS test (English Language Arts TAKS test). She said they are well prepared, and believe they will do well on their TAKS test. Her hobbies are reading and playing sports.  She also sponsors the Christ First Club. Her inspiration to be a teacher came from her junior high English teacher.

 

MRS. SIMMONDS

            Mrs. Simmonds is an English IV, Pre-AP English teacher. She teaches seniors. Her hobbies are reading, spending time with her grandchildren, raising sheep, and gardening. She sponsors the Interact Club and they have a really big event coming. It is a Country Music Sunday at “Son of Herman” on February 18th. What inspired her to be a teacher is that when she got married her husband was a coach so she had to choose a profession similar to her husband’s profession.
